Issue No. 214 — The Weekly Brief RSS
MASTHEAD · BERLIN · EST. 2017

A newsroom built by people who cast the matches, not by people who watched them.

Gamers Globe is an independent gaming publication written, edited, and bench-tested by a 34-person team across nine countries — founded by two former ESL casters in a Berlin apartment and still owned by no one but ourselves.

THE LATAM DESK

The only English-language gaming outlet with a permanent LATAM beat.

Six full-time scouts in São Paulo cover the Brazilian and Argentine pro scenes year-round — not as a wire-service string, but as a permanent editorial desk with our own press credentials. We were the first English-language outlet to credential into CBLoL under our own masthead, and we have not missed a finals weekend since 2019.

  • CBLoL partnership. Credentialed reporting for the Brazilian League of Legends circuit, including playoff recaps within 90 minutes of the final whistle.
  • São Paulo scout base. On-the-floor coverage of every major LATAM event, from the CBLOL to the Brazilian VALORANT Challengers circuit.
  • English-first, scene-native. Every roster move, contract rumor, and coaching change reported from São Paulo lands in our Brief within the same business day — before the Portuguese-language dailies translate it.
ETHICS & DISCLOSURE

An editor's note on disclosure, embargo handling, and the no-sponsored-slot policy.

Gamers Globe is independently owned. We are not part of a publisher conglomerate. We do not sell sponsored editorial slots, and we do not accept payment in exchange for coverage. If a piece is paid, it is marked PAID at the top of the page in a monospace label, and it lives in a separate section of the site that is never indexed alongside our editorial reviews. If a piece is earned — meaning it was assigned, written, and edited on the merits — it is marked EARNED. Every review we publish carries one of those two labels. There is no third option.

We do not accept manufacturer-supplied review units without disclosure. When a GPU, keyboard, or headset lands at our Berlin bench lab, we publish the serial number, the supplier (retail, distributor, or vendor PR), and the condition of return. We have purchased retail ourselves for the majority of hardware tested since 2017, and we publish a quarterly count of which reviews used vendor-supplied units and which did not.

Embargoed materials are handled by a single sign-off chain. Priya and I are the only two staff with the authority to break an embargo. We have done so 19 times since 2021 — including the Bloodborne 60fps patch leak in 2024 — and we publish the date, the source category, and the post-publication correction (if any) for each break in our public embargo ledger.

We do not publish unverified player-salary or roster-contract figures from leaked sources. If we cannot independently confirm a figure through a credentialed scout or a primary-source document, we do not run the number. We will instead tell you what we know, what we don't, and where the rumor originated.

We do not sell reader data to gambling operators. Our subscriber list is used for exactly one thing: delivering The Brief, once a week, on Tuesday morning. If a future owner ever changes that policy, this page is the canonical disclosure point and the change will be documented here with a date.

EDITORIAL CREDENTIALS

Five specific, verifiable proof points — not a generic 'why us' list.

  1. 01

In-house bench lab, no borrowed review units without disclosure.

218 GPUs, 92 keyboards, and 47 headsets tested under our own protocol since 2017. Average review article: 3,400 words with 47+ verified benchmark data points. We publish the methodology, the serial numbers, and the supplier for every unit tested.

  2. 02

A scout network across four cities, not a wire-service string.

Cologne, Los Angeles, Seoul, and São Paulo — permanent editorial bases staffed by reporters who cover the same league for multiple seasons. We covered 1,400+ esports matches across 19 leagues with our own people on the floor.

  3. 03

Cited 84 times in 2024 by The Verge, Wired, and Kotaku.

Mainstream technology and gaming press treat Gamers Globe as a primary source — not a content aggregator. We were cited as the originating source 84 times across those three outlets in 2024 alone, more than any other independent gaming publication.

  4. 04

Game Awards runner-up, Best Gaming Publication (Independent), 2023 and 2024.

Recognized by the industry's flagship awards body in back-to-back years. The only independent outlet on the shortlist that ships launch-day verdicts within 90 minutes of release — a record we have hit on 31 of the last 33 major AAA launches.

  5. 05

    71% reader retention after 12 months — versus the 24% publisher-industry average.

Verified by the SimilarWeb 2024 reader panel. Subscribers stay subscribed. The Brief has not lost a year-over-year cohort since launch, and our open rate has held above 42% across the last six quarters.
